We made it. We made it to our second country, Mexico. Arriving in Chihuahua City for a well deserved break after 3 days of remote desert riding from the border towns of Presidio/Ojinaga. The 150 miles was our first logistical test as we loaded up the tandem with 12 liters of water and carry 3 days worth of food. Those days in the desert were certainly character building, climbing to the highest elevation so far on the trip, just shy of 5000 feet, the relentless heat of the day, and wild camping in freezing nighttime temperatures pushed us mentally and physically.
Storing the bike at a friends house in Chihuahua City, we took off for 3 week ‘vacation’ to explore the majestic Copper Canyon, before catching the last passenger train of Mexico to the roaring surf of the Pacific Coast for a couple of weeks of relaxation.
Total so far: 1944 miles
