KOGA SIGNATURE WORLD TRAVELLER

Say hello to Battle Cat, my 26″ Koga Signature World Traveller, 2011 edition. Named after He-Mans faithful feline companion, he’s my workhorse and my go anywhere adventure bicycle.

To be frank, when researching touring bikes back in 2010 I had very little knowledge about what to look for in an adventure bike. The reason I picked the brand Koga over anything else was really because I saw the BBC documentary – The Man who Cycled the World which featured this fine bicycle. If Mark Beaumont made it around the world in 194 days, it could surely get me around the USA.

I could go on for months about how great this bike rides, sure it’s heavy, mine tops out at about 18.2kg, but it will see you through some of the harshest environments this planet can throw at you. I’m not going to bore the pants off you with a in-depth review, because I basically know very little about bicycles, all I know it rides brilliantly and if you’re thinking about buying one, you won’t be disappointed.

Below are the various builds and part lists for this outstanding machine.

2015 BUILD

The final build of this beast. This last configuration was to take me on a 1000 mile loop of the Adirondack & Catskills mountains. I build it up as touring bike which would be as comfortable off-road as it would be on tarmac. After this last tour Battle Cat was to go into retirement for a couple of years. I was stripping the bike down and using as many of the high quality components for my next project. The Co-Motion Tandem.

2014 BUILD

After putting over 10000 miles on my Koga a few of the original parts had started to show wear and tear. For this build I wanted to source as many replacement parts as possible from independent US manufacturers. I truly wanted Battle Cat to have the highest quality components available, made by heroes of the bicycle world. All components which had been replaced were installed by the most excellent 718 Cycles of Brooklyn.
